What is girth meaning?

Girth is a term used to describe the distance around the circumference of a cylindrical or roughly cylindrical object, such as a tree trunk, a pipe, or a horse's chest. In the case of a horse, girth also refers to the strap or band that is used to secure the saddle onto the horse's back, usually passing under the belly of the horse. The proper fit of a girth is important to ensure comfort and safety for the horse and rider. Girth measurement can be used to estimate body fat percentage in humans, and is also related to penis size in men, although this measurement is not considered a reliable indicator of sexual satisfaction.
